Julie Fortenberry, MAMFT, LAPC, LAMFT
Julie
received her master’s degree in Marriage and Family
Therapy with an emphasis on Sex Therapy from Richmont
Graduate University (formerly PSI). She also holds a
bachelor’s degree from Auburn University in psychology.
Julie has worked with a wide variety of issues in the
counseling field. Through her work at Skyland Trail, she
gained insight into working with bipolar disorder,
schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and major
depressive disorder. At the Hope Counseling Center and
The Center at Mount Paran North, she was able to work
with individuals, couples, and families dealing with
issues of depression, anxiety, eating disorders, sexual
trauma, and spirituality.
In session, Julie utilizes a variety of theories
depending on the issues and the individual, couple, or
family. She takes an integrated and holistic approach,
learning to understand each individual in terms of their
family of origin, life stages, current circumstances and
relationships, as all of these are important parts of
the therapy process. She uses the therapist-client
relationship to gain insight into other aspects of the
individual’s life. Julie understands the importance of
integrating her therapy with other professional
assistance. When necessary, she will advise a client and
work with them to seek parallel support from other
professionals. Her desire is that clients have a safe
and inviting place to pursue change and growth in their
lives.
Julie is

Associate Professional Counselor (#APC002520) and is under the
direction and supervision of Vilda Brannen, M.S., LPC.
